CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati Police want your help to find the man who they believe is responsible for two home-invasion robberies early Monday morning near the UC campus, just two days before classes are set to start.
Around 5:30 a.m. officers were called to a home on Flora Avenue where several young men living in one house said they were robbed at gunpoint. The suspect took some cash and a PlayStation 3.
Just a half hour later, as they were investigating the first robbery, another call came in from a man living on Ohio Avenue, saying he had also been robbed in his home at gunpoint. The police report says the suspect told the victim, "Do you want to die? We're going for a ride. Put your shoes on. Get down on your knees." The victim refused, and the suspect took off with some cash.
Police say they have good evidence that it is the same man wanted for both crimes.
Captain Dave Bailey says this type of home-invasion is very unusual in a home where there is no other criminal activity such as drugs going on. So they are vigilant, and asking the public to do the same. Capt. Bailey reminds everyone that unlocked doors, and open windows can present an opportunity for criminals.
"Lock up your things. Lock up your doors. Lock up vehicles. Be on the lookout. Be aware of who's hanging around," he said.
There is only a vague description of the person police are looking for - a black male in his 20's, wearing a ski mask.
