OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - Sigma Chi, one of the most historically significant fraternities at Miami University, is under investigation just ten months after completing a suspension.
The local chapter is under investigation after an anonymous charge of hazing, but Miami University isn't saying what the charges involve. University officials say the allegation came to them recently. They are not saying when the violations are alleged to have happened.
The chapter was allowed back on campus early this year after a suspension that began in March of last year was lifted in December. That suspension came after the university found they had violated the student of conduct due to intoxication, disorderly conduct, damage, theft, and unauthorized use of property.
Sigma Chi was founded at Miami University in 1855, making the local chapter the "Alpha" chapter of Sigma Chi, one of oldest in the country, and one of three Greek-letter social organizations founded at Miami. It is also the largest Greek organization, with 240,000 alumni including three current U.S. Senators.
