City Councilman to hold hearing on the importance of postal jobs downtown

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

One Cincinnati Councilman will host a public hearing to show the importance of the 2,000 postal jobs downtown.

City Councilman Charlie Winburn, Chair of the Job Creation Committee says that closing the downtown post office could result in a loss of $2 million to $3 million in income tax earnings for the city.

"The City of Cincinnati and the local economy stand to lose significant tax revenue and small businesses will be hit hard from the closure of this regional mail center," said Councilman Winburn, "We need to be able to quantify that impact and that's what this hearing is intended to do."

All who are interested in attending the event are invited. It will be held at Cincinnati City Hall in the Council Chambers in Room 300. It will be held from 1 p.m. until 3:00 on Monday, September 26.
