Equipment failure blamed for Saturday afternoon power outage

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Representatives say equipment failure is to blame for a Saturday afternoon power outage that affected parts of Hamilton and Kenton Counties.

At around 2:10 pm, a representative from Duke Energy says a lightning arrester failed, causing the power outage.

About 18,000 Duke Energy customers were out of power as crews replaced the failed piece of equipment.

Customers were out of power for 30-40 minutes.
