FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) - A Fairfield man is facing charges for a crash that killed his stepson.

The crash occurred just after 1 a.m. in the 5300 block of Southgate Boulevard in Fairfield.

Officers responded to find a red Honda Prelude had crashed into a tree.

The rear passenger behind the driver, Adrian Hassertt, was thrown from the back windshield and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver of the car was Hassertt's stepfather, James Crowder, 36, who was taken to Bethesda North Hospital. At the hospital, officers detected a moderate odor of alcohol on Crowder, and he admitted that he had been drinking. Crowder was released from the hospital and taken to the Butler County Jail, charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, OVI and failure to reinstate.

The other rear passenger, Christopher Glander-Abbott, was taken to University Hospital in stable condition.

The front seat passenger, John Ellis, was not injured. He told police that they had all been at Crowder's house drinking. He said Crowder was driving about 60 to 70 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
