HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - Butler County Clerk of Courts Mary Swain gave the County Commissioners and taxpayers a pleasant surprise at the commission meeting on Thursday.
Swain announced that she was returning $900,000 in excess funds from her Title Division back to the county's general fund.
Earlier this month, Swain declared a $100,000 return from the title fund, for a grand total of $1 million back to the general fund from her office.
Swain is able to return excess funds based on Ohio law. She said she came up with the excess funds by working to better allocate her funds within the office.
