Two women have been arrested for stealing a 79-year-old woman's purse at the Blue Ash Kroger.
Plain clothes officers observed the women taking the purse after the victim left it unattended in a shopping cart in the parking lot on Thursday afternoon.
Officers arrested Darra Marks, 37, of Reading, and Suzanne Buckley, 40, of Hebron, a short time later on the Ronald Reagan Highway.
They were each charged with grand theft, a felony of the fourth degree due to the victim's age. Marks was also charged with drug possession, a felony of the fifth degree, after suspected heroin was discovered during her arrest. Both are scheduled to appear in Hamilton County Municipal Court.
Plainclothes directed patrol officers had been assigned to monitor the area due to at least ten other theft offenses in the shopping center since the beginning of September. Directed patrol is a type of incident based policing that involves the tracking of offenses and the application of targeted surveillance.
