CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Opponents of Cincinnati's streetcar project are holding a fundraiser on Monday night to try to put a stop to the project.
The anti-tax group COAST is hosting a fundraising event called 'Stop the Streetcar' at Mecklenburg Gardens.
The event begins at 6 p.m. Cost is $20 per person, with proceeds benefit COAST's campaign against the streetcar project.
Streetcar supporters say the first phase of the project will create more than 3,000 construction jobs and 25 permanent jobs and the activity will lead to thousands of new residents in the urban core.
Those against the project say the 3-mile round trip is too short and there is no guarantee that the streetcar will be as effective here as it is in other cities.
