Both sides plow through paperwork for Jimmy Dimora's upcoming corruption trial

AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

Embattled former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora in an Akron courtroom Wednesday as lawyers on both sides gear up for his corruption trial.

Dimora's trial isn't scheduled to begin until January of 2012, but there are many pretrial motions to sort through.

By noon, the judge had read through about a dozen motions, but is not expected to rule on any Wednesday.

One of the most important motions, perhaps, is Dimora's change of venue request. The judge doesn't seem to think that will be necessary, and feels a fair and unbiased jury will be able to be seated in Cuyahoga County.

A motion has also been filed to have wiretaps and other items obtained from Dimora's house in the federal raid suppressed, or not allowed in court.

19 Action News has learned there are a lot of confidential informants, and federal officials don't want those names leaked once the trial begins.

Once underway, the trial is expected to last about three months.
