CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The CrimeStoppers organization, known for giving out rewards to people who help solve crimes, spent the day giving out awards to those who make it possible.
The CrimeStoppers chapter in Cincinnati is ranked in the top 5 nationally for the apprehension of criminals and the recovery of stolen property.
Organizers say it is the volunteers that make them part of the top 5.
"It's effective. We get a lot of people off the streets, we get a lot of calls," said Larry Arszan with CrimeStoppers, "We've always said, the good thing is we get a lot of calls and pay out a lot of tips. The bad thing is we get a lot of calls and pay out a lot of tips."
Those who received awards included area detectives, citizen volunteers and the Duke Energy Center.
