OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - A movie that was filmed mostly in the Tri-State is now in theaters.
'The Ides of March' stars Ryan Gosling, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Evan Rachel Wood, Marisa Tomei and George Clooney, who also directed and co-wrote the film.
A premiere party was held in Oxford Thursday night for the opening of the movie. Parts of the film were shot in Oxford on the Miami University campus and included 200 extras.
The party included a red carpet and a DJ. The city closed off the street in front of the Princess theater for the event. The theater sold out for the premiere which, according to management, is rare.
Alix Morrison is a student at Miami University who appears as an extra in the film. She says it was very exciting to be part of it and she was paid $90 for her efforts.
"People from all over will hear about Oxford and they get to see the University, and it's just really cool for us," said Morrison.
There's a lot of buzz about the movie throughout the Tri-State because George Clooney is from the Cincinnati area and the film involves a highly contested presidential primary in Ohio.
A midnight showing was also held at Newport on the Levee, where about 250 moviegoers came out to be some of the first to see the film.
