COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Rules for new slots-like video lottery terminals at Ohio race tracks will go into effect immediately, under an order signed by Gov. John Kasich on Monday.
The governor's office says the rules create categories for video lottery employees, allow licensing to begin and outline fees and facility requirements. Kasich laid out his plans to expand video lottery terminals at Ohio's seven horse tracks in a June deal with the operators of the state's four casinos.
The Ohio Lottery Commission requested the order to allow the race track operators to move forward immediately with their work to set up the terminals. The rules will be effective for 90 days. They'll have to go through a bipartisan rule-making panel to become permanent.
They could be changed during the panel's review.
