Coyote sightings more frequent in Avondale

AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) -

A homeowner in Avondale is letting her neighbors know about a number of coyotes roaming around the area

Naima Jackson heard the high pitch howls a few days ago and confirmed with the SPCA some were released to control other wildlife in the region.

Jackson says she is not leaving any food or water outside to attract them.

"Most inner city children and people don't know what coyotes look like, they probably mistake them for being wolves and they probably wouldn't know how to react when they encounter one," said Jackson.

If you spot a coyote, do not run away. Wildlife experts say it is best to stand your ground and make noise to scare them away.

If you see a coyote, you are urged to call Animal Control at 513-252-2420 or the SPCA at (513) 541-6100.
