Lindner tribute banner hung on gates of Great American Ball Park

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A banner was hung Wednesday on the gates of Great American Ball Park as a tribute to Carl Lindner, the former Reds owner and CEO from 1999 to 2005 who passed away on Monday.

"We placed the banner on the Crosley Terrace gates in honor of Mr. Lindner from the Reds and our fans as a fitting tribute to Great American Ball Park being built during his tenure."

- Phil Castellini, Reds Chief Operating Officer

"I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Carl Lindner. Carl was a true friend, and that friendship lasted outside of and beyond our years with the Reds. He taught me many life lessons, and was extremely generous to my entire family. His generosity to many other people and to the entire Cincinnati area will be felt for many generations to come. The Griffey family's sincerest thoughts are with the Lindner Family at this time."

- Ken Griffey Jr.

"Carl Lindner was a unique and generous individual, and I was fortunate to have known him as a boss, mentor, and most importantly, friend. It was an honor and privilege to be associated with him. I will miss Carl but always cherish the many wonderful memories and the laughs we always shared. He leaves a legacy that will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with Edyth and the Lindner Family."

- John Allen, former Reds Chief Operating Officer
