RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Book lovers, listen up. One of the biggest sales in town starts next week with bargains that can't be found anywhere else.
VCU's annual library sale is a book-lover's dream come true. And even if you don't love books, there is something here for everybody.
"History, ancient literature, modern fiction, psychology, sociology, politics, management, science. A wonderful selection of travel materials, children's books," said Jim Moore from Friends of the Library.
Art books are notoriously pricey, but not here. A few bucks can buy you a very expensive book.
"Everything that's in this sale will be $2 if it's a hardback and $1 if it's a paperback, and mass market paperbacks will be cheaper than that," said Gregory Kimbrell, VCU membership and events coordinator.
Some are old, some are new. Either way, it's amazing bargains for you.
"Here's a really nice pretty recent book by National Geographic, Journeys of a Lifetime. It would be $40. It's going to be $2, it may end up in the special price section for $3," said Kimbrell.
And it's not just books. They have vintage toys like die cast cars and an old metal ferris wheel, CD's and vinyl albums.
"This Porgy and Bess that still has the handkerchief actually in the pocket," said Kimbrell.
Any Barbra Streisand fans would love to get their hands on this collection.
"We have bound sheet music and loose sheet music," said Kimbrell.
The annual sale is organized by Friends of the Library. The proceeds fund special events and speakers the library hosts throughout the year.
"Books with eerie specificity that make really good gifts for people. Things I like to say you never knew that you needed until you see them," said Kimbrell.
The week-long sale opens to the public at noon this Monday, and starting Thursday, all inventory will be half off.
