BEAVERLICK, KY (FOX19) - A man is dead and child has been taken to the hospital by AirCare after a two vehicle crash Sunday afternoon.
Boone County Sheriffs and emergency crews were called to US 42 near Beaver Road for a report of an accident at 4:00p.m.
22 year-old Brandon Chamberlain was traveling south on Beaver Road at US 42 when he started out into the intersection in front of 22-year-old Cory Jones who was driving a rollback wrecker owned by Enhanced Auto.
Jones braked and swerved left to avoid the collision but hit Chamberlain's car directly in the side.
Both vehicles went diagonally across US 42 and over an embankment.
Chamberlain was taken to Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Florence where he was pronounced dead. His passenger, a 7-year-old boy was flown to Children's Hospital by AirCare. He has life-threatening injuries.
FOX19 spoke with the child's mother and she says that the 7-year-old is in critical but stable condition.
The child's mother says that she credits Chamberlain with saving her son's life. She says that Chamberlain bear-hugged her son and she believes without the bear-hug, her son would not be alive.
Jones was taken to Saint Elizabeth with minor neck injuries.
All three were believed to be wearing seat belts.
