The fight against breast cancer grows stronger as the West End Wildcats join the team.

Donna Chapman sits in peace today, but her past was full of worry. She is an eight year breast cancer survivor.

"It was scary. Because you just never think about yourself having to deal with such a serious and dreadful disease," said Donna.

It's her courage and strength that has inspired the West End Wildcats to raise breast cancer awareness, one point at a time. This team of nine and ten year old boys is showing their support to survivors everywhere by wearing pink socks to their games.

Aaron Boyd plays corner and safety for the Wildcats football team, and when asked about the new addition to the uniform he said "It takes a real man to wear pink."

"To see these kids out here and they have on their pink socks and their pink mouth pieces gloves and things, and be supportive because so many women are not aware of the seriousness of it," said Donna. "So these kids backing us with the things their doing and supporting the cause I'm grateful. I'm more than grateful."

The boys are now wearing pink socks in their everyday lives, but parents and coaches want to make sure the kids know that it's not just a trend; they are raising awareness for a disease. It's not just pink socks it's a mindset, and that warms Donna's heart.

"No matter how big or small [the effort] is, you can do something to be supportive and help someone fighting this dreadful disease," said Donna.

Since the beginning of the October, the Wildcats have been wearing pink socks to raise breast cancer awareness. The leagues director has followed suit and has added pink socks to every team's dress code for the duration of the month.
