2011 officially the wettest year on record for Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The National Weather Service says that with Wednesday's rain, 2011 is the wettest year on record for Cincinnati.

At 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, the NWS recorded a yearly precipitation total of 57.68 inches at the CVG recording station. This beats the previous record, set in 1990, of 57.58 inches.

With two more months left to go in 2011, the yearly total will continue to rise.

Cincinnati really got soaked during the spring, when heavy rains led to flooding along the Ohio River.
