FAIRHAVEN, OH (FOX19) - Investigators say a person who was found during a fire on Monday in Preble County was killed prior to the fire. The case is now being investigated as a homicide.
The fire occurred on SR 177 in Fairhaven on Monday evening.
The origin and cause investigation of the fire is ongoing at this time. Due to the circumstances of the victim's death, arson has not been eliminated as a possible cause for the fire.
Investigators from the Division of State Fire Marshal and detectives from the Preble County Sheriff's Office are now asking anyone with information to call the Preble County Sheriff's Office at 937-456-6262.
The victim of the homicide has not yet been positively identified. The coroner's office has requested dental records in an attempt to confirm his identity.
Firefighters say the building was fully engulfed upon arrival.
