Driver taken to hospital after garbage truck overturns

BURLINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A Rumpke driver was taken to the hospital after his dump truck overturned Monday morning in Burlington.

It happened on Camp Ernst Road just after 6 a.m. Monday morning. Camp Ernst Road was temporarily shut down between Ky. 18 and Rogers Lane.

Police say the driver of the garbage truck, Timothy Hill, 40, lost control and overturned. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence for observation.

No other vehicles were involved.

"Our first thoughts and actions are always with the drivers," said Rumpke Safety Manager Mike Puckett. "Now that our driver is seeking medical attention, our focus turns to the investigation and clean-up."

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Deputies were able to assist school buses getting into Camp Ernst Middle School and to re-route traffic around the accident scene.  The truck was up righted and the roadway cleared for normal traffic by 9:20 a.m.
