CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The 8th annual USO Tribute Cincinnati will honor military heroes and provide Tri-State residents the opportunity to personally thank five wounded members of the military who will attend the
event as honorees.
This year, the National 9/11 Flag, one of the largest flags to fly above the wreckage at Ground
Zero, will be displayed at the event as part of its national tour. An honorary guard of firefighters from the Fire Department of New York City will accompany the flag to Cincinnati the weekend of the event.
"The National 9/11 Flag is a symbol of strength, hope and perseverance for our country," said Anne Kereiakes, event co-chair. "Featuring the flag at our event underscores the evening's message of gratitude and recognition for the men and women who keep us safe."
Held Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Duke Energy Convention Center, the event is the largest source of support for the USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro) outside of Washington D.C.
Attendees will enjoy a seated dinner and a tribute to the men and women who serve in the United States military, led by Honorary Chair Roger Staubach, a Cincinnati native, U.S. Navy veteran and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Patriotic entertainment will be provided by Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan, World War II-era vocal trio The Victory Belles, and 4Troops, four former soldiers who have joined forces to honor American veterans through song.
"In the past seven years, USO Tribute Cincinnati event has raised more than $3 million for USO-Metro and honored 29 members of the military," said Karen Cassidy, event co-chair. "The event is an opportunity for us to honor our service men and women and provide critical funding for programs and services benefiting our recovering, wounded warriors."
