Phillips Earns First Silver Slugger

Cincinnati, OH (FOX19) - A day after winning his third gold glove, Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips has his first Silver Slugger award.  The Silver Slugger is given to the best offensive player at each position as voted by coaches and managers.

Phillips hit .300 this season with 18 home runs and 82 RBI.

The Reds just picked up a $12 million option on Phillips' contract for 2012 but Phillips continues to say he wants a long term extension to stay with the Reds.
