LEBANON, OH (FOX19) -
Thirteen suspects connected to a multi-state prescription drug ring were arraigned Wednesday.
Appearing in court via video arraignment, the suspects are accused of peddling anabolic steroids in a large scale operation that started from a secret lab in Tennessee furnished with drugs from China. Investigators say the suspects sold steroids to high school athletes.
Attorneys appeared on behalf of the suspects, many saying their client had no criminal history. Among the 13 suspects were Ronald Herbort and Matthew Geraci, the so-called ringleaders of the group, charged with seven felonies each.
"We expected that the charges would be serious, at this time we're just trying to find out his involvement in everything," said Doug Ridell, Geraci's attorney.
Riddell says he's still digging into the details of the specific allegations, in the meantime he says his client is being cooperative.
"I can say that he's been very cooperative with both prosecutors and law enforcement so far, and that process may actually continue going forward," Riddell said.
More than half of the 13 suspects were released from jail on an OR bond, the others have to post either $10,000 or $5,000 bond. Those released will also have to undergo random drug testing while their case is pending.
