BLANCHESTER, OH (FOX19) - Two Blanchester men are facing charges after police say they tried to lure a 13-year-old girl into their van.
It happened on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m. on Supinger Street near Cherry Street.
Police say the men followed the girl as she walked along Supinger Street, then the passenger got out, approached the girl, asked her name, and extended his hand.
The girl immediately ran home and the man got back into the van. When the girl got home, she told her mother what happened, and the mother called police.
The girl was able to give a general description of the men, but not enough to identify them.
A motorist in the area at the time of the incident called police later in the evening with additional descriptive information. Based on that information, officers suspected one of the men may be Michael Butler, 48, of Blanchester.
Blanchester Police proceeded to Butler's address and found him and James Pruett, 41, both intoxicated. The men were taken into custody and charged with criminal child enticement, a first degree misdemeanor.
The van involved in the incident was located at Pruett's residence and was registered to JCR Tech Inc. Police say Pruett had recently moved to Blanchester from Alabama and had been working at JCR Tech Inc.
