WILLIAMSBURG TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a car crash that killed a 16-year-old girl.
The accident happened just before 11 p.m. on Twin Bridges road in Williamsburg Township, one mile west of State Route 133.
Police say a Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Ryan Pirrello, 18, of Williamsburg, was traveling south on Twin Bridges Road when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer, overcorrected and went off the right side of the road where the car struck a guardrail and a tree.
A passenger in the vehicle, Breanna Ritchie, 16, of Batavia, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Breanna was a student at Williamsburg High School.
Tiffany Richey knew Ritchie, and wrote FOX19 to say, "Breanna Danielle Ritchie was a very sweet girl and very much so loved by her family and her friends. I have known Breanna for a while now through school. I graduated with her older sister Arisa Ritchie and I would just like to say that I'll never forget the great times we had in school together. Breanna you will forever be in my heart & to the Ritchie family you are in my prayers, may you find comfort, strength, and peace during this unbearable time."
Pirrello was transported to Clermont Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Three other passengers, Richard Klette Jr., 19, Joseph Catron, 20, and Natalie Chandler, 14, were also transported with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation; however, police say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
