Fire critically injures one toddler, one adult

AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) -

Two people are in critical condition after a house fire in Avondale Sunday morning.

Firefighters were called to the 800 block of Windham Ave at about 8:45 am. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters were told a toddler was trapped inside.

One adult was already out of the home, with serious injuries. Neighbors tell FOX19 that the adult had tried to rush into the house to attempt to save the toddler, but was unable to.

Firefighters attacked the fire and were able to retrieve the toddler.  The adult is at University Hospital and the toddler is at Children's Hospital. Both are in critical condition.

Damage is estimated at $15,000.
