The tiara atop Great American Tower at Queen City Square, along with several other buildings in downtown Cincinnati, will display blue lightning in recognition of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and World Diabetes Day on Monday.
JDRF is dedicated to improving the lives of those with type 1 diabetes. Its mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
World Diabetes Day is the primary global awareness campaign held each year on Nov. 14. It was introduced in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization to increase awareness of the alarming rise of diabetes around the world.
In 2010, over 900 monuments and buildings in 84 countries featured blue lighting in recognition of this annual initiative.
