22,000 pounds of electronic waste collected during 'One Stop Drop' event
NORWOOD, OH (FOX19) -
Keep Cincinnati Beautiful and Whole Foods Market invited residents to take part in a new recycling event, aptly named "One Stop Drop," in honor of America Recycles Day on Tuesday.
Residents were encouraged to participate by bringing hard-to-recycle items like electronic waste and plastic bags to one convenient drop off location for free recycling. Local electronics recycler 2TRG provided free recycling for a wide variety of electronic waste including computer monitors, audio equipment, printers, and more.
They collected over 22,000 pounds of e-waste and dozens of TVs at two drop-off locations. The e-waste will be diverted from the landfill and recycled locally at 2TRG's Blue Ash plant.
In addition to e-waste, participants dropped off more than 100 pounds of batteries, 175 cell phones and chargers, thousands of #5 plastic containers and plastic bags, and over 500 used pens and markers.
The event was held outside the Whole Foods Market Cincinnati location in Rookwood Commons.
