BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) - An Anderson Township Boy Scout took part in a bake sale, held a car wash, and recycled aluminum cans to raise money for improvements to a local animal shelter.

Robbie Himebaugh, 14, raised $700 for improvements to the cat room at the Clermont County Animal Shelter on Filager Road. He used the money for materials to build risers that go under cat cages at adoption centers.

"It's a lot easier now for workers at the shelter to clean the cages and for kids to see inside them," said Himebaugh.

"Robbie, his mentors and fellow troop members did a great job pulling this project together," said Kim Naegel, Clermont Animal Shelter Director. "The transformation to the cat room is astounding. Raising the cages enables us to better showcase the cats and invites potential adopter interaction. The cats love their new higher vantage point and allows them do what they do best - show off!"

Himebaugh completed this project over the summer while working toward the rank of Eagle Scout.
