Police: Man abducted woman from school; led police on chase

BROWN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - A Williamsburg man is in the Brown County Jail after police say he attempted to abduct a woman from the campus of Southern State Community College and then led police on a chase.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Nathan Parsons, 29, forced a 29-year-old woman to get into his car at around 10:00 am on the southern campus of Southern State Community College on US 62. Two bystanders who witnessed the incident called 911 and were able to give the police a description of the vehicle.

The victim was also able to use her cell phone to call 911.

Officers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Adams County Sheriff's Office, and the West Union Police Department located the vehicle, and a short pursuit began on Potts Rd. in Adams County.

During the pursuit an Adams County deputy fired his gun at the suspect.

Police say the pursuit ended when the suspect drove into a farm field in an effort to avoid driving over tire deflation devices.

Officers were able to approach Parsons and arrest him without incident. He is currently in the Brown County Jail.

The victim was also found at the scene unharmed.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident.
