BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) - Police in Clermont County have identified a suspect who is accused of stealing metal storm grates.
Mark Vauter, 49, has been indicted for 14 counts, including breaking and entering and theft.
The indictment stems from an investigation that started in June with the theft of metal storm grates from Batavia and Pierce Townships Clermont County. Vauter became a suspect after he was identified on a surveillance video taking aluminum from a work truck.
Vauter was interviewed and confessed to taking the aluminum and cast iron storm grates from seven locations. Twenty stolen metal grates were recovered.
Before being indicted Vauter fled the jurisdiction and is currently at large. His last known address is on SR 125 in Amelia.
