Madeira Police filled a cruiser for families in need on Sunday.
Shoppers at the Madeira Kroger were asked to fill a police cruiser with non-perishable food items and donate cash to buy turkeys for families in Madeira. The food will be taken to a local food bank to help those in need.
Police officers say this is another way for them to connect with the people they serve.
"We saw in northern Ohio, there's agencies that are doing this," said Lt. Chris Zumbiel. "We thought it was a good fit for our community."
The police department will hold another Fill-A-Cruiser event on Dec. 18.
