CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A local business owner who is charged with arson after an explosion at his restaurant appeared in court on Tuesday.
Aiman Arabeiat, 45, is charged with two counts of aggravated arson after an explosion at his Jerusalem Restaurant in Clifton Heights on Sunday, Nov. 13. He appeared in court in a wheelchair and hospital gown due to burns her suffered during the fire.
Arabeiat was charged on Thursday and scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning and again on Monday morning, but was unable to both times due to his medical condition. His attorney said the Sheriff's Department has turned him away twice from the jail because of the severe burns.
Prosecutors asked for a high bond, saying it was a serious crime and the jail could make arrangements to handle his medical condition, but Judge Melissa Powers released him on his own recognizance and ordered him to surrender his passport.
The case will go to the grand jury on Dec. 7.
