Holy Cross/Highlands Advance to State Championship

They are two schools with vastly different history, but Holy Cross and Highlands will both play for a state football championship next weekend in Bowling Green.

Playing in its first state semi-final in school history, Holy Cross beat Somerset 48-14 Friday night at Newport High School.  Sophomore Jalen Beal scored five touchdowns and receiver Eric Walker scored twice.  The Indians will play undefeated Glasgow next Friday at 3pm on the campus of WKU.

4-time defending state champion Highlands scored on the opening kick-off and outscored Lexington Catholic, 42-21 on the Knights' home field.  Highlands, the class 4A's only undefeated team, will play one-loss Franklin Simpson at WKU on Saturday at 3pm.

Beechwood lost to Mayfield in the Class A state semi-finals, 19-14.  Also, Scott County beat Boone County in Georgetown, 16-14.
