Cincinnati Bengals team up to feed the hungry

Posted: Updated:

Gates opened up at 11:30a.m. on Sunday at the Paul Brown Stadium for something other than football.  The Cincinnati Bengals joined the Freestore Foodbank for the Annual Meijer Canned Food Drive.  Non-perishable foods and cash donations were accepted at each entrance gate and went to benefit local families.

The Bengals have hosted this food drive for over 25 years. Last year's Canned Food Drive brought in 7,107 pounds of food, and $11,500 in cash. This year the Bengals are hoping to score more proceeds than last year's collection.

The Freestore Food Bank will distribute the proceeds to families three days prior to Christmas. The food collected is said to benefit over 23,000 local families.

Food and donations were collected at prior to the Bengals home game against the Cleveland Browns.
