Suspect arrested moments after CVS robbery

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - Florence Police picked up a Walton man just three blocks away from the scene of a robbery at a CVS Store Sunday afternoon.

Around 5:50 pm the Florence Police received a robbery in progress call from the CVS pharmacy located at 6081 Dixie Highway.  It was reported that the suspect came into the store wearing a hooded sweatshirt with some type of white mask covering his face. He vaulted the counter, displayed a knife and left with an unknown quantity on drugs. According to store employees, the suspect then left the store in a small blue vehicle heading south on Dixie Highway.

Police spotted a small car matching the description was located on Main Street at Banklick Street. The car was stopped and inside the officer found a man wearing a hooded sweat-shirt with a white shirt around his neck. Police say they also found CVS bags containing drugs, along with a pocket knife.

Arrested is Michael Helton, a 27-year-old from Walton, KY. He is now in the Boone County Jail, charged with Robbery 1st degree.

Police are looking into whether he could be responsible for a similar robbery at the CVS store in October.
