Fire damages 3 homes in Elmwood Place

ELMWOOD PLACE, OH (FOX19) -

Fire investigators are searching for the cause of a two-alarm fire in Elmwood Place that damaged three homes Thursday morning.

Flames broke out at about 3:45 a.m. in a backyard shed in the 6000 block of Highland Avenue. Within 20 minutes, the fire had spread to two adjacent homes.

Two families were displaced as a result of the fire and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

The other home on Walnut Street was vacant. It is also a complete loss.

Another neighboring home suffered minor damage. The heat from the flames melted some siding. An elderly woman living at the home will not be displaced.

So far, the cause has not been determined. In addition to the homes that were damaged, a garage and the shed the fire started in were also damaged.
