A Butler County Jury has found a man guilty in the murder of his mother, a popular Middletown teacher.
Michael Carreiro, 31, was found guilty of aggravated murder Thursday. His mother, Christine Minnix, was found stabbed to death inside her son's apartment in September 2005.
Minnix was a teacher at Rosedale Elementary for 15 years.
Carreiro was originally found incompetent to stand trial, but that was changed.
Carreiro was sentenced to life in prison, and will be eligible for parole in 20 years. The judge credited Carreiro for the time he's served since 2005.
