KENWOOD, OH (FOX19) - The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is investigating the deaths of an elderly couple found in their Kenwood home on Wednesday due to a high level of carbon monoxide.
John Picciano, 87, and Rita Picciano, 86, were found in their home in the 7100 block of Nodding Way in Kenwood.
Further investigation by police on the scene revealed a vehicle had been left running in the garage that is located directly under the bedroom where they were found.
Neighbors tell FOX19 the Picciano's were a caring and considerate couple.
"He would carry my trash can in every week from the street to my garage, just to be nice," says Christine Cribbs.
Cribbs has lived next door to the Picciano's for the last five years. She says Mr. Picciano always offered to help her with yard work and loved to treat her dogs.
"He always carried dog biscuits in his pockets so every time I saw him out back...he would give my dogs treats, so my dogs loved him, I loved him," says Cribbs.
Mimi Goel has lived down the street from the Picciano's for more than 20 years. She says Mr. Picciano was very active and loved to be outdoors talking with his neighbors.
"He was sort of like the patriarch of the neighborhood walking everyday and checking on how everybody was doing and asking how you were," says Goel.
