CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A woman who suffered a massive heart attack in September was reunited Thursday with the medical team that saved her life.
Deloris Casey, 66, suffered the heart attack on Sept. 3. First responders with the Cincinnati Fire Department, UC Health AirCare/Mobile Care physicians and cardiologists from UC Health University Hospital used CPR and a defibrillator to shock Casey 13 times. She was flown to the hospital via AirCare and then cared for by a team of cardiologists and critical care specialists in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.
Casey was unconscious for over an hour and had no measurable blood pressure, leaving doctors to believe that she would endure extensive brain damage and never fully recover.
"Miraculously, she has made a full recovery," said Dr. Neal Weintraub, chair of cardiology at the UC College of Medicine.
In addition to being reunited with the team, Casey will receive a ride in the helicopter, something she has always wanted to do but doesn't remember doing.
