Traffic cleared after car overturns on I-71 at I-275

SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

An overturned vehicle on Northbound I-71, just north of I-275 caused traffic delays for about an hour Thursday afternoon.

The accident happened just after 2:30 p.m. The overturned vehicle is on its top and is blocking the left lanes.

Officials say that one person was pulled from the vehicle and taken to Jewish hospital. Artimis is expecting the cleanup to take two hours.

A 2011 Mazda Tribute, driven by Susan Staley, age 66, of Maineville, Ohio, was northbound on I71 when she negotiated an improper lane change in front of a 2000 International Semi (trailer not loaded); driven by Shon K. McCall, age 41, of Wilmington, Ohio.

The improper lane change resulted in Ms. Staley clipping the front bumper of the semi causing the Mazda to strike the center median wall, flip onto its top, and slide approximately 100 feet on its top.

Ms. Staley was extricated by the Sycamore Township Fire Department and transported to Jewish Hospital-Kenwood for observation. She claimed not injuries as a result of the crash.

Mr. McCall was not injured.

Ms. Staley and Mr. McCall were both utilizing their safety restraints and alcohol/drugs are not a factor.

All lanes are now open following the accident.

Ms. Staley was cited for Improper Lane Change.
