CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph Deters said Monday that his office will review Saturday's brawl between Xavier and UC to determine if charges should be filed.
"My office will review this matter to determine whether any criminal charges are appropriate. We will have no further comment until a decision is reached," Deters said in a statement.
The bench-clearing brawl broke out with 9.4 seconds left in Saturday's Crosstown Shootout at the Cintas Center.
Xavier and UC have suspended eight players (four each). UC suspended Yancy Gates, Octavius Ellis and Check Moosh for six games. Gay Lawn is suspended for one game. For Xavier, freshman Dezmine Wells and sophomore Landen Amos are each suspended for four games. Junior Mark Lyons is suspended for two games, and senior Tu Holloway is suspended for one game.
The game was called after the fight, with Xavier winning 76-53.
Xavier held a press conference on Sunday to announce suspensions. UC also announced its suspensions on Sunday, but is holding a press conference on Monday afternoon.
