FRANKLIN, OH (FOX19) -

Police in Franklin are looking for the driver of a vehicle who escaped from the hospital after being involved in an accident Wednesday morning.

At about 9:15 am, the Franklin Police Department along with the City of Franklin Fire Department and the Joint Emergency Medical Service responded to OH-73 at I-75 to the scene of an accident. Police say that the driver of a gray Saturn hit a 2011 black Cadillac after getting off of the I-75 ramp.

After that, the Saturn ran the red light at the intersection and started traveling east on the westbound lanes of OH-73. The Saturn continued the wrong way, striking a guard rail, and running into the path of a 2000 blue Hyundai.

The driver and the three passengers of the gray Saturn and the driver of the Hyundai were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police now say the driver of the Saturn, Richard Shelby Adkins, 21, left Atrium Hospital against medical advice and is now on the run. He has been charged with Driving Under Suspension, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Leaving the Scene of a Crash. Other charges may result after lab results come in from the Miami Valley Regional Crime Laboratory.

Anyone with any information on the location of Richard Shelby Adkins should call the Franklin Police Department at (937) 746-2882.
