Community to welcome wounded soldier home

LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19) -

A Greendale, Ind. soldier who was wounded in Afghanistan is being welcomed home by the community on Monday.

Pfc. Brett Bondurant, 21, was hurt on Sept. 28 after an improvised explosive device blew up just east of Kandahar.

He has spent several weeks in rehab in San Antonio after having both of his legs amputated, one at the knee, the other at the hip.

The community will welcome Bondurant home with a ceremony and parade through Lawrenceburg. The ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Lawrenceburg High School, Bondurant's alma mater.

A parade will follow at 4 p.m. through downtown Lawrenceburg. The parade route goes from the high school to Walnut Street, right onto Center Street, and right onto Front Street, ending at the Lawrenceburg American Legion Post #239, where a meet and greet will be held until 8 p.m.
