Freestore Foodbank distributes holiday food boxes this week

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Families lined up in Over-the-Rhine on Wednesday as the Freestore Foodbank began distributing December holiday food boxes.

During their first day of distribution, the Freestore handed out meals to 2,554 households, feeding 6,869 individuals.

December holiday food box distribution continues from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22; and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 23.

Freestore expects to serve about 9,000 families this week. Mrs. Claus and the Reds mascots - Mr. Redlegs, Mr. Red, Rosie and Gapper - will be on hand Friday to hand out thousands of toys to those in need.

The holiday distribution will take place at the Customer Connection Center, located at 112 E. Liberty St.

Freestore served 12,640 families, or nearly 35,000 people, during their Thanksgiving food box distribution.
