More than 100 soldiers welcomed home from Iraq

WALTON, KY (FOX19) - It was an emotional homecoming for members of the National Guard 940th Military Police Co. On Monday, the unit returned home from Iraq after being deployed back in June.

"Words can't even describe what's it like to be back home with family," said Michael Russo.

"It's the best feeling in the world. Thank God that he brought him back safe to me and the family," said Vicki Russo, Michael's mother. "We are so blessed to have him home."

Also, Tracy Serdenis and her two daughters were reunited with their father, 1st Sergeant Jeremy Serdenis. It was Serdenis' third deployment to Iraq.

"She has grown a lot," said Serdenis when talking about his youngest daughter. "She looks totally different from when I left her."

"It's fabulous [to have him home], but I don't want to do this again though," said Tracy Serdenis.

There is no doubt Christmas came early in Walton.

"It's a great privilege to actually be home for the holidays with my family. I am pretty excited," said Russo.
