Clerk shot in attempted robbery in Springdale

SPRINGDALE, OH (FOX19) - Springdale Police are searching for a man who shot a clerk while trying to rob a beauty supply shop Wednesday evening.

Police were called to the Star Wig & Beauty Supply on the 11400 block of Springfield Pike at around 5:30 PM. When they arrived, they found that one of the clerk had been shot in the hand. "The two clerks kind of raised their hands and a shot went off and hit one of the clerks in the hand," said Springdale police lieutenant, Rick Neumann. "The suspect ran out of the store so we're not sure if he was surprised by the shot or not. But he left with nothing."

The clerk was taken to Bethesda North.

Police are searching for a black male who was wearing a ski mask, gloves, a gray hoodie and jeans at the time of the attempted robbery. Police say that the man fled the scene on foot with a handgun, and is believed to still be on the run.
