ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A life squad call in Butler County ended in an arrest Wednesday evening.
Just before 7:30 p.m., sheriff's deputies and the St. Clair life squad responded to the 2300 block of Hamilton Eaton Road for a report of a non-breather.
Upon arrival, deputies and life squad members found James Hubbard with a slight pulse and shallow breathing. The resident, Cody Schwegmann, who is currently out on bond for trafficking in drugs, told deputies that Hubbard had been in the bathroom for some time and he had to break open the door to get him out.
Agents from the Butler County Sheriff's Regional Narcotics (BURN) taskforce asked deputies to secure the location while they typed a search warrant for the residence. Schwegmann advised deputies that he would sign a consent to search form.
BURN agents located approximately a 1/2 ounce of heroin inside Schwegmann's vehicle. Schwegmann had the keys to the vehicle in his pocket, but refused to admit the heroin belonged to him.
Schwegmann was arrested for Permitting Drug Abuse, felony 5, and transported to the Butler County Jail. Additional charges are pending.
Hubbard was taken to the hospital, but his condition is unknown.
