COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - Road crews in Northern Kentucky and Butler County are on standby should they be needed to treat roadways. With temperatures expected to drop below freezing, there is the possibility of ice forming in certain areas.
"If the temperatures do drop, we'll be ready to mobilize our crews in the counties and start treating the priority routes and all of our state routes as needed with salt," said Nancy Wood with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Covington office. "All of our crews will be ready to go out as needed and mobilize their equipment and use of materials as they see needed."
Meanwhile, in Butler County, the Engineer's Office decided not to load its trucks with salt saying the conditions do not warrant the move. They will, however, be on alert overnight.
"We have some of our people out there monitoring the roads. We get reports from law enforcement and should any slick conditions are reported we will send our crews out," said Chris Petrocy with the Engineer's Office. "If there is a wide spread problem we will bring all our crews in."
