EVANSTON, OH (FOX19) - An Evanston home is expected to be a total loss after a fire in the 3500 block of Bevis Avenue.
The fire broke out around 3 a.m., and firefighters had trouble entering the home to the battle the flames because of clutter inside. It took firefighters about 45 minutes to knock down the fire.
Firefighters have not determined the cause of the fire. The homeowner said he and his wife were watching television when they smelled smoke and saw flames coming from a second floor bedroom. He said it took about 15 minutes before the entire back of the house was full of heavy smoke.
"Very scary, very sad," said Andrew Rodgers, the homeowner. "Just keep our head up, stay positive and rebuild again."
The Red Cross was called to help Rodgers and his family.
